The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation announces the launch of online applications for Barbering Booth Rental Permits and Cosmetology Booth Rental Licenses. The new service enables first-time booth rental applicants to complete the application and submit the fee online. Online applications are fast and easy. No more looking for a stamp, no searching for an envelope, no making yourself a mental note to remember to mail the application!
To apply an applicant must hold a current barbering or cosmetology license. There is a space on the form for the applicant's license number and incomplete applications cannot be processed. Students or people waiting to receive their barbering permit or cosmetology license will not be able to submit the booth rental application until they receive their license.
December 2011 statistics reveal 92.5% of cosmetology booth renewals and 50.6% of barbering booth renewals were completed online. The department expects many new booth renters to take advantage of the online application and complete the form at a convenient time for them. Applying and renewing permits and licenses online accelerates the licensing process.
To apply online visit TDLRL's website:

The Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR) joined the online social network community in 2010 with the launch of the Department's Facebook and Twitter pages.
At the close of business that first day the agency had 1,000 Facebook (FB) fans and 41 Twitter followers. At close of business on January 19, 2012, TDLR had 9,959 FB fans and 754 Twitter followers.*
TDLR's social media plan is an extension of its commitment to communicate with its customers in a way they prefer and in a way that enables the Department to instantly deliver licensing information and consumer protection alerts. The two communication tools, Facebook and Twitter, continue to also provide customers additional outlets to contact the department for information or answers to licensing questions.
Facebook and Twitter have been the instruments used to facilitate conversations that benefit customers and TDLR alike. The Department will continue to use the two online social mediums to:
Find TDLR's Facebook page at www.facebook.com/TDLRLicense.
Twitter followers can find TDLR at twitter.com/tdlrlicense.
Not a Tweeter or a Facebook user? TLDR will continue to deliver industry updates and emails via its ListServ, as well as posting notices and information on the Department's web site at www.license.state.tx.us.
TDLR Customer Service's expanded phone-in hours continues to serve Texans at a time that is convenient to them. Representatives are available to assist callers from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday.
*TDLR has the second largest number Facebook followers of Texas agencies with a FB presence.
